What characterizes electronic music is that artists can come from absolutely all over the globe.
This week, meet Soltan who comes from an area unknown to Electro artists.
Indeed, this latter was born in India and now lives in Iran. He directly made himself known by a first EP of 3 tracks (Debut EP) released in November 2014.
This artist tries to bring a nasty yet controlled angst to his sound design.
Bass Music artists are often marked by their environment for their productions. Soltan doesn’t derogate to this rule.
The Iranian doesn’t hesitate to integrate sounds or atmospheres that are characteristics of the Middle-East or India.
This is what we directly notice when listening of his first EP with a track like « Desi Gangsta » on which we can hear oriental vocals In the intro before going to heavy Brostep !
This will to transmit an atmosphere proper to his personal experience is also perfectly identifiable on another track with the evocative name of « Indian Soorma » which gives the feeling of being a Psytrance track at the first seconds when we hear an Indian singing.
He also uses the famous « youyou » (sort of women’ screams in the Middle-East, usually during weddings) In tracks like « I’m the Soltan » which melody evokes an oriental tune.
We hear it In the intro of « Harhippa » (his collab with Different Heaven). Those « screams » are also present on « Salam Alaykom » that Ehide also remixed.
We also feel a huge inspiration coming from Zomboy for certain sound-designs and especially during the rise of the drop of « Soltansutra ».
We notice as well a Trash Electro track : « Acide Punjabi » including Dubstep sonorities and even oriental instruments.
As a conclusion, we have decided to give you a selection of 3 of the best tracks from Soltan according to the Stoner crew.
(This rating is purely subjective and not exhaustive, these are the sounds that got us vibrate the most).
