Spotlight on #1 : Evilwave

Even though he is not somewhat unknown, this artist is rarely playlisted during parties we’ve gone to and has never mixed in France yet.

This is why in this first presentation’s column, we have chosen to put the spotlight on Evilwave.

Native from Saint Petersburg in Russia, this young whizz kid has just reached the 9000 followers on soundcloud.
With almost 50 tracks to his credit, we always find a style combining melody and violence.
Known to be an excellent Brostep producer, he also can drop some wonderful Glitch-Hop sounds such as « Fragments » which reminds us the old-school Zomboy’s productions.
Unlike other artists of this very musical genre that is Brostep, Evilwave enrolled himself in a logic of brutallity without turning into Electro or Trap.

He got himself known by his collab « Reggae Lights » with Tim Ismag a year ago.
Since then, he has collaborated with artists such as Funk4Mation, Chime and even EHDE.
Evilwave distinguished himself thanks to his even more inventive and melodious remixes like his version of « Hide » produced by Spag Heddy & Anna Yvette or « The Elite » by Panda Eyes & Omegamode.

In addition to working with genious producers, he also brought out new sounds on more or less famous labels.
One of the most emblematic is Drop the Bassline on which he brought out many tracks like his remix « Web Shit » of Tryple or « It’s Fucking Wonderful Life ».
Established in 2011, the Dubstep section of this label is specialized in this kind of artists combining big violence and melody and has widely proved it by signing producers like Teminite, Phaseone but also bigger artists like Trampa.
He also was spotted by the Audiophile Live label (support by huge DJ’s like Destroid and Krewella) who signed his track « Angel Fire ».
He was also promoted by smaller labels such as Kill the Copyright, founded last April to promote free music which released his track entitled « UMD ».
The French duo Extra Terra also signed with this label their version of « He’s a Pirate referring to the film Pirates of the Caribbean.
Another young label has also received the Russian for his collab « Circadian » with Chime.
Its name is 13putas, founded in 2013 and focused on Brostep but also Trap and Drumstep.
Among their famous artists we can notice Dubsidia, Different Heaven and even Ivory, with his track « Feeling Good » in collab with Funk4Mation.

As a conclusion, we have decided to give you a selection of 3 of the bests tracks from Evilwave according to the Stoner crew.
(This rating is purely subjective and not exhaustive, these are the sounds that got us vibrate the most).

1) « It’s Fucking Wonderful Life »
2) « Reggea Lights »
3) « Hide »
